Whitefish Bay artist Jessie Banaszak to Exhibit in New York this July!

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Whitefish Bay artist Jessie Banaszak in Dynamic Visions.

Jessie Banaszak doesn't limit herself or her media. Her paintings explore both figurative and abstract depictions of emotive landscapes and moments. In both cases, Banaszak paints freely, imbuing her figurative work with evocatively abstract colors and her abstract work with distinctly realistic structures and symbols. In every form, her paintings share a cohesive sense of composition and color, with rich pigments, physical perspective, and a sense of anticipatory change acting as familiar markers of place and purpose.

Banaszak's work is heavily influenced by world travel and the natural world, and reflects an organic, if playful, take on traditional art forms. This playfulness embodies Banaszak's positive outlook, which is most apparent in the kaleidoscope colors in her abstract work. These bright, fluid forms seem to contain their own sense of nature, with shapes and symbols reminiscent of graphic design, traditional artwork, and visual poetry. This is mirrored in Banaszak's figurative work, with finely painted textures creating a sense of organic comfort.

Banaszak was born in New York City and currently lives in Milwaukee.

About the Exhibition

Dynamic Visions: A diverse range of artists creates many views of nature

While the artists in Dynamic Visions all use the outside world as a source of inspiration, the diverging paths they take to express that inspiration result in a rich and revealing collection of images. From making paintings that incorporate the earth itself as material to creating brightly colored abstractions in which nature’s rhythms are transformed into striking patterns, these artists take the essential qualities of land, sky and sea and reimagine them as part of their own personal visions. Alive to the many forms and moods that nature can take, each of them establishes a unique connection to the outside world, whether that means realistically depicting a sky or landscape, or uncovering the primal, abstract forms that lie beneath the surface. That variety can also be seen in the many textures and approaches that are on display, giving every piece a unique physical presence and providing each artist’s work with a strong individual signature. When seen together, their works constitute a many-faceted take on how we see the world around us.
