It was a bittersweet goodbye for Whitefish Bay High School seniors as they walked away with their high school diploma Sunday afternoon.
In their commencement speeches, Whitefish Bay graduates recounted their great memories in the district, starting with their days at Richards or Cumberland elementary schools and leading up to their senior year.
After all those years together, the Class of 2013 will now scatter across the country – everywhere from University of Southern California to Yale University. But 44 percent of college-bound students are staying in Wisconsin – and 33 of those are going to UW-Madison, according to the Tower Times student newspaper.
These are the top 10 graduates, according to Tower Times:
- Andrew Gegios, University of Pennsylvania
- Rachel Galvao, Yale University
- Katie Plaster, Washington University in St. Louis
- Meredith Creighton, Duke University
- Shawn Wang, University of Pennsylvania
- Coretta Lemaitre, Northwestern University
- Julia Marks, Washington University in St. Louis
- Thomas Aiken, Harvard University
- Becca Nye, UW-Madison
- Jack Middleton, Northwestern University
