CHEYENNE, WY — Wind gusts reaching 60 mph toppled nine semi-trucks on Interstate 25 near Cheyenne on Monday, the state Department of Transportation said. The interstate was closed for an hour to clean up the crashes, the Wyoming Tribune Eagle newspaper reported.
A wind advisory was issued throughout most of the day that warned high-profile vehicles of the conditions. Two vehicles also tipped over on U.S. Highway 85, the newspaper said, and another blew over at a rest stop in Meriden.
Drivers who ignore such advisories could face a $750 fine or face 30 days in prison.
