Alaska Police Searching For Escaped Inmate

Alaska Police say they are looking for an inmate who escaped from a halfway house.

ANCHORAGE, AK – Police in Anchorage are looking for an inmate who escaped from a halfway house. Police identified the escapee as Dale Brian Smith, who was last seen Wednesday police said.

A felony arrest warrant for escape has been issued for Smith, 55, who left the Cordova Center, according to Anchorage Police. Smith is on probation for felony refusal – he would not take a breathalyzer test, police told Patch. The Cordova Center provides temporary housing, monitoring and transitional services on behalf of the Alaska Department of Corrections and Federal Bureau of Prisons, according to its website. Smith has a long criminal record, police said. He was last seen Wednesday wearing a black fleece jacket, gray baseball cap, jeans, white polo shirt and black flip-flops. Smith is 6 feet 2 inches tall, 185 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
