SCOTTSDALE — Two Scottsdale bars reached an agreement with the Arizona Department of Health Services to reopen following months of closure after they violated public health guidelines.

The health department announced Tuesday that Bottled Blonde and Casa Amigos in Old Town will be allowed to open their doors again. The two nightlife spots were shut down on Aug. 29 for multiple coronavirus violations, including a lack of social distancing, mask requirements, dancing, standing and table occupancy, according to a news release from the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control.

At the time, Department of Liquor Director John Cocca said that “detectives will continue to enforce public health orders and take immediate actions against licensees who are observed showing general disregard for the welfare and safety of others."

Each bar will pay a $3,000 fine to the liquor department, and agreed to follow social distancing measures and to limit their occupancies to 50 percent, the health department said. They will also close at 10 p.m. for the next three weeks before resuming their normal hours if no issues arise.

Glow Shots & Cocktails in Tempe made the same agreement with the state and is allowed to reopen as well.

The Mill Avenue bar was shut down in late August for not operating as a dine-in restaurant and was accused by the liquor department of not enforcing social distancing, keeping people seated at tables or prohibiting dancing.
