SCOTTSDALE, AZ — What an adventure.

Ursula, a 6-month-old shepherd-retriever mix dog, and the Foothills Animal Rescue in Scottsdale are united again after the young pup had a day out on the town one FedEx driver in town won't soon forget.

The animal rescue said on Facebook that Ursula was adopted last month. Yet somehow, she wound up on her own, in danger on the busy Hayden Road, near Camelback Road, last Tuesday.

A number of cars stopped, but when Mike, one of two FedEx drivers who stopped, opened his door, Ursula jumped right in. She still had her Foothills identification tag on, and Mike sent a photo of her to the rescue.

"We immediately recognized her," the rescue said in a statement to Patch.

Mike told Foothills Ursula kept him company as he made his deliveries that morning. She would rest amidst the boxes in the back of the truck throughout the day, and even met Mike's daughters for a quick play date when Mike was on break from work.

She even got spruced up, with the family teaming to give her a bath.

"Talk about going above and beyond!," the shelter, which had someone pick up Ursula from the FedEx driver's home that night, posted.

Ursula's next adventure?

It could be anything. She's up for adoption again at the rescue's Brynne Smith Memorial Campus after the shelter and the family that adopted her in March mutually decided that it was not the best fit.

She's an "absolutely magical" dog whose "a little shy and "still learning the leash," her Petango adoption page reads.

One big adventure in, the dog "will become a companion and friend with a very deep bond."

Foothills said Ursula is still "decompressing" after the adventure, but "will most likely be available for adoption again in the coming days," the rescue wrote.
