- The City of Scottsdale is considering plans to address Urban Heat Island. The plans are part of the city's first Heat Mitigation Plan. In 2020, the city partnered with ASU to identify the city's hottest parts. The proposed plans are increasing the city's tree canopy, reducing dark surfaces, and improving pedestrian shade facilities. - The Scottsdale Unified School District has a new bag policy for sporting events. Guests will no longer be allowed to bring large purses. Bags must not exceed 12" by 6" by 12". Guests are allowed a 1-gallon clear plastic bag, however. (ABC15)
- The Scottsdale Fire Department responded to a large fire at a northeast home on Thursday. The department cooperated with the Phoenix Fire Department to extinguish the blaze on Sylvia Street. The family was able to make it out of the home safely and no one was injured. The fire is currently under investigation to determine the cause. (AZ Family)
