Scottsdale Businessman Elected President Of PGA Of America
Jim Richerson of Scottsdale was elected president of the Professional Golfers' Association during a virtual meeting Friday.
SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A Scottsdale businessman is now the president of the Professional Golfers' Association of America.
Jim Richerson was elected the 104th president of the national organization during its Friday meeting, held virtually for the first time ever due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release from the association.
Richerson currently serves as the senior vice president of operations for Troon, which boasts 35 locations and over 470 golf courses.

"This year has presented us with many obstacles, but the passion and resilience of PGA Members helped bring millions of people through by providing an unmatched experience that only golf can deliver," Richerson said in a news release. "As we head into a new year, our focus is to continue to engage our members and sections to ensure that PGA professionals and associates have the tools and resources needed to continue leading this game."
Richerson was previously elected to be PGA Vice President in 2018 and is a member of the association's Southwest section. He also previously served as PGA Secretary when he was a member of the Wisconsin section.

John Lindert of Michigan will succeed Richerson as the association's vice president. Don Rea Jr, the owner and general manager of Augusta Ranch Golf Club in Mesa, will take over as PGA Secretary.
The PGA of America is made up of nearly 29,000 PGA Professionals, according to its website. It hosts annual golf tournaments, including the Ryder Cup and several championship events.
