Arizona Women's Basketball: Maya Nnaji Commits To Wildcats

The Arizona Wildcats signed five-star forward Maya Nnaji Monday, with Nnaji becoming the highest-ranked player to ever commit to Arizona.

TUCSON, AZ — The Arizona Wildcats' women's basketball team added another milestone to what's been a historic 2021 for the program.

That's because the Wildcats, fresh off the program's first-ever appearance in the women's Final Four, signed No. 7 overall high school recruit in the class of 2022, Maya Nnaji, to a scholarship on Monday.

Nnaji is the younger sister of former Arizona men's basketball forward, Zeke Nnaji.

The 6-foot-4 forward played high school basketball at Minnesota's Hopkins High School

"The biggest areas for me were academics, playing style, player development, strength and conditioning, the community, and nutrition, too," said Maya, via ESPN. "I want to be a doctor, so having a good pre-med program was really important to me. And having the support staff that will help me balance that heavy load, while also being able to be my best on the court as well."

Nnaji joins four-star point guard, Kailyn Gilbert, in Arizona's 2022 recruiting class, joining UConn and Oregon State as the only schools with two or more top-20 ranked players in ESPN's 2022 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.
