TUCSON – It was a ray of hope for the restaurant shell at 1628 E. Sixth St. in Tucson, former home to the J’s Chicken & Waffles and Abe’s Place eateries. Brooklyn Rolls, an Italian restaurant offering Brooklyn-style sandwiches, moved into the spot July 19, then closed its doors for good sometime near the end of September, Tucson Foodie reported.

Brooklyn’s Rolls offered bagels, antipasto salad, a Stromboli and spinach roll sandwich, knishes and espresso, in addition to New York-inspired desserts such as cannoli, pizelles, cheesecake, black and white cookies and much more. Tucson Foodie investigated the closure after tipsters alerted the magazine of a sign on Brooklyn Rolls’ door Sept. 23, saying, “We gave it a shot. Thanks.” The restaurant’s website has also been taken down.
