CDC Mask Guidance: Tucson City Council Votes To End Mask Mandate
The Tucson City Council voted 4-1 to rescind the city's mask mandate Tuesday. Here's what you need to know.

TUCSON, AZ — The Tucson City Council voted 4-1 to rescind the city's December mask requirement Tuesday, in light of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's updated mask guidelines.
The CDC's announcement centered around the fact that most Americans don't need to wear masks, indoors and outdoors, if they're fully vaccinated and don't live or work in a correctional or detention facility, a homeless shelter, are traveling on a plane, or are around someone who has COVID-19, the center said.
The CDC's guidance says that people are still subject to any federal, local or tribal mask requirements, including on all public transit, including Tucson's Sun Link streetcar route.

Tucson Unified School District sent the following statement to Patch:
"The Tucson Unified School District will not be changing its requirement for Face Masks/ Face coverings at our schools and on our properties, and it will continue to be in effect for the reminder of the school year.
Catalina Foothills School District Director of Communications Julie Farbarik told Patch:
"Since we don’t know who is fully vaccinated among our employees and high school students (age 16+), we are keeping our mask requirement in place through the end of the school year."
Amphitheater Public Schools sent the following statement to Patch:
"Amphitheater Public Schools has made the decision to maintain its face covering requirement for students, staff and visitors to Amphitheater Public Schools at least through the end of the school year. "The District appreciates your continued support of students, families and staff, and we look forward to finishing this school year strong and healthy."
