Face Coverings Required At Tucson Airport
"The best course of action is to require everyone wear a face covering in the airport's public facilities," Tucson Airport Authority says.
TUCSON —Effective Monday, all employees, visitors and passengers in and out of the Tucson International Airport are required to wear face masks to slow the spread of the new coronavirus as air travel picks up. The masks must cover a person's mouth and nose, according to the new policy, which will remain in effect indefinitely.
The order extends to all Tucson International Airport facilities, including terminals, gates, parking, rental car and shuttle services.
“Our TAA team members have been forward thinking and working diligently on additional precautions to provide the safest environment possible for the benefit of everyone who uses the airport,” Danette Bewley, president and CEO of the Tucson Airport Authority said in a statement. “This order provides additional assurance to our community that the health and well-being is a top priority, especially as we move forward in our recovery efforts."

The Tucson Airport Authority has required that all employees wear face masks since April. Due to a reported increase in passenger volume, the organization decided to initiate more aggressive measures.
On Monday, 1,379 passengers flew out of the airport — the highest number in more than two months.

“While that’s not great, it was our highest number since March 22 and was almost 28 percent of the number of passengers we served on the same day a year ago. It was also 9.7 percent higher than the national average,” Bruce Goetz, TAA vice president of operations and chief operating officer of the Tucson Airport Authority, said in the statement.
Goetz also noted the steady increase in passengers at the Tucson International Airport outpaces the national average reported by the Transportation Security Administration.
