Foster’s Shoes Closing After 33 Years In Tucson

Foster's Shoes is holding a going-out-of-business sale ahead of its expected closure in March.

TUCSON, AZ — Foster’s Shoes, which has been fitting Tucson women with footwear for decades, is closing after 33 years.

Owner Jim Foster, who opened his first shoe store in Michigan before moving to Tucson, is holding a going-out-of-business sale ahead of the expected closure of the business in March.

He told the Arizona Daily Star he is retiring so he can travel and spend more time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Foster’s Shoes opened in 1987, and the business in various locations around Tucson before moving to the current location at 4811 E. Grant Road. He originally sold both men’s and women’s shoes, but eventually catered exclusively to women.

Service — and making sure his customers are fitted with the right shoe and size are hallmarks of the business, Foster’s wife, Eileen told the Daily Star.
