New numbers out of Pima County show 280 cases of the coronavirus and 11 deaths. Testing is available for some in Tucson.

TUCSON, AZ — New statistics announced Tuesday by the Arizona Department of Health Services show that 280 people in Pima County have tested positive for the new coronavirus, with 11 confirmed deaths. State authorities have been taking measures to slow the spread of the virus and offer assistance to those affected.

Testing is available in Tucson, but only for those that qualify. Banner Health has set up drive-thru coronavirus testing sites for residents with symptoms who call in for appointments.

The state is under a stay at home order and schools have been shut down through the end of the year.

Pima County's website, not having been updated with state numbers, lists 237 positive cases. Of the 237 cases, forty-eight percent are men and 52 percent are women.

Forty-five Pima coronavirus patients are hospitalized and 15 are in intensive care units.

In total, the Arizona Department of Health Services reported Wednesday, there are

1,769 coronavirus cases in Arizona, including 41 deaths.

According to Johns Hopkins University numbers released Tuesday afternoon, there have been 58,243 deaths worldwide of 1,083,084 coronavirus cases.

In the United States, Johns Hopkins reported, there have been 6,921 deaths in 266,671 coronavirus cases.
