A Love Letter To Carlo

"He can still glance at me from across a crowded room and wink at me and melt my heart all over again."

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Libby Wright-Giovingo’s love story about her husband, Carlo:

“In 1984, although there were more than 2,950,010 people in the city of Los Angeles, I was blessed enough to find the love of my life, Carlo, in July, 1984. I was a full-time student and a young single mother of a nine-month-old boy.

Carlo, a hairdresser, fell in love with my son before he fell in love with me. We were married six months later.

We’ve shared our love with three biological children and more than 100 other children who came to live in our home, our lives and our hearts. We continue to share that same love with our grandchildren.

Three years ago, Carlo was diagnosed with lung cancer and told he would not live more than six months. We treasure every day. We are still in love after almost 34 years. He can still glance at me from across a crowded room and wink at me and melt my heart all over again.”
