Man Charged In Connection With Deadly Shooting
Maurice Diaz-Casales was charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting May 1 that killed David Scott Anderson.
TUCSON, AZ — An 18-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder in connection with a May 1 fatal shooting near the University of Arizona campus, Tucson police said.
David Scott Anderson, 30, died in the shooting in the 1100 block of east Waverly Street, according to police.
Maurice Diaz-Casales, 18, was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday, five days after police arrested him in the victim's four-door sedan. Diaz-Casales was initially charged with felony flight from law enforcement, police said.

Diaz-Casales is currently being held on remanded bond at Pima County Jail.
If convicted of first-degree murder, Diaz-Casales faces a sentence of life in prison, with or without the chance of parole, or the death penalty.

Additionally, if convicted of felony flight from law enforcement, Diaz-Casales faces a sentence of up to two years in prison.
