TUCSON, AZ — The drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination site at Tucson's Kino Stadium will move to nighttime only operations on Wednesday before operations move to an indoor facility across the street May 14, the county announced Tuesday.

The site at Kino Stadium, which has been open since December in collaboration with Banner Health, will shift its hours for the last month it's operational to combat the excessive Southern Arizona heat, Pima County Health Director Dr. Theresa Cullen said.

"We're grateful to Banner for their collaboration with Pima County in getting so many shots in arms quickly and efficiently," Cullen said. "The County exceeded its early vaccination goals and has worked with partners to expand indoor operations and keep the momentum going."

The county has already opened an indoor COVID-19 vaccination site at Kino Event Center (2805 E. Ajo Way) in preparation for the eventual shutdown and will gradually shift operations there.

The Kino Stadium site will only deliver second doses after Saturday, the county said.
