Pima County Expands Coronavirus Testing Hours

TUCSON, AZ — Free coronavirus testing sites throughout Tucson and the rest of Pima County will expand their hours to meet demand as coronavirus cases surge.

Several testing locations will open for more testing as test positivity rates and the number new cases continue to rise. Pima County reported 726 new cases with an 8.6 percent positivity rate Monday, though reporting is typically low following the weekend.

Extra testing hours will allow 270 additional appointments per day each at the Kino Event Center and Morris K. Udall Center, plus expanded hours at the El Pueblo Center testing location.

Hours:

Kino Testing Center (2805 E. Ajo Way) - appointments are now available Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Udall Testing Center (7200 E. Tanque Verde Road) - appointments are now available Tuesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The El Pueblo Testing Site (101 W. Irvington Road (Building 9)) - now offering appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m.-noon.

There are also several drive-thru testing options offered through Arizona State University. Those tests will require pre-registration.

The news comes days after Tucson implemented a citywide curfew Friday to help curb the spread of the coronavirus. Residents will not be allowed in public spaces from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Dec. 23. The Pima County Board of Supervisors has also voted to strengthen penalties for individuals not wearing a mask in public, to potentially suspend restaurant licenses for not enforcing coronavirus guidelines and to mandate businesses to report known cases.
