Red Flag Warning In Effect For Tucson Area: NWS

The alert warning of dangerous fire conditions includes parts of Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Santa Cruz and southern Pima counties.

TUCSON, AZ — A red flag warning has been issued Sunday for areas south and east of Tucson, according to a National Weather Service alert.

The warning, in effect from 12-8 p.m. Sunday, encompasses Cochise County, southern Graham and Greenlee counties, Santa Cruz County, and far southern Pima County. Strong southwesterly winds and low humidity levels are expected to elevate already dangerous fire conditions.

Forecasters said counties in the warning area should expect sustained winds between 20-25 mph on Sunday.

Residents of Cochise County, specifically near Willcox Playa and San Simon, should also expect some blowing dust.
