Tucson Border Patrol Agent Charged With Sexual Assaults

Detectives with Tucson Police found "multiple" victims after the initial woman came forward and said she had been raped.

TUCSON, AZ — A Border Patrol agent was arrested Tuesday by Tucson Police on charges of multiple sexual assaults.

Steven Charles Holmes, 33, was arrested after a woman told police she was sexually assaulted by the agent, Tucson Police shared in a Facebook post.

That woman says she met Holmes for a date after chatting online through an app. That's when the victim says she was attacked.

Detectives found more victims claiming similar sexual assaults from Jan. 2012 to January of this year.

Holmes was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Pima County Jail with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of aggravated assault.

Meredith Mingledorff, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman, confirmed with the Tucson Sentinel that Holmes was an agent based at the Tucson Station and has been with the agency for seven years.

She says Holmes has been "administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation," she said.
