Tucson Officially Breaks All-Time Heat Record
Tucson broke the record for most triple-digit-degree days Wednesday, previously set in 1994. This was the city's hottest summer ever.
TUCSON, AZ — Tucson broke a 1994 record for most days with triple-digit temperatures after the city hit 100 degrees Wednesday.
The previous record was 99 occurrences of temperatures at or above 100 degrees in 1994. 2020 has now seen 100 days with high heat, according to the National Weather Service in Tucson.

And the heat will continue to be unforgiving, as triple-digit temperatures are expected throughout the week.

"We won't be seeing much relief from the heat across the Western US over the next 1.5 weeks," the weather service tweeted. "Occasional near-record temperatures will be possible across SE Arizona."
This year's monsoon season was also the second driest recorded since 1895. The Tucson Airport only recorded 1.62 inches of rain during the summer. Typically, the city sees approximately 6 inches.

Tucson was hit with several excessive heat warnings this summer, with temperatures reaching 113 degrees. It is considered Arizona's hottest summer yet.
