Back-to-school season is now in full swing, and as things get busier for the entire family, ensuring that everyone is leading healthy lives becomes more challenging. Infant/Child CPR Class

Date: September 9, 2019
Time: 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.

CPR is an essential skill to keep your loved ones safe and understanding how this technique should be applied to children is crucial. Taught by a registered nurse, this class shares techniques for both infants and children, and will teach you what to do if your child is choking. The cost to attend is $20, and participants must be at least 17 years of age to register. Registration is required.

Pumping Class for Breastfeeding Mothers

Date: September 14
Time: 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.

For new mothers or mothers to be, this one-and-a-half hour class helps give you all the information you need to get started with pumping. The class itself can be attended prior to or after delivery and covers important topics like storing breast milk, when to start pumping and how often to pump. The cost to attend is $10 and registration is required and expecting or new moms are welcome to bring support people.

Healing Touch Integrative Therapy

Date: September 16
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Taking care of your family often means taking care of yourself, both physically and mentally. This compassionate form of energy therapy helps heal the whole person — mind, body and spirit. During the session, practitioners use their hands in a centered and intentional way to support the human energy. The cost is $50 per session, and registering online beforehand is strongly advised.

Living Day-to-Day with Dementia

Date: September 18
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Taking care of an aging relative can be tough, and this delicate responsibility is amplified when caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or other related dementias. This workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn from experienced Banner medical professionals, and addresses the unique challenges and difficulties that come with this serious condition. The discussion will also address common mistakes that caregivers make that can lead to arguments and frustration, and provides strategies and non-pharmacologic solutions you can implement. This event is free to attend, but registration is encouraged.

Beyond the Blue Support Group

Date: September 23
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Having a growing family isn’t always easy, and pregnancy can often come with feelings of depression and anxiety. This support group is intended for pregnant women and new moms who are feeling anxious, sad, overwhelmed or disconnected. It provides a safe, non-judgmental environment where women can talk honestly with others having similar feelings or thoughts. Beyond the Blue may help decrease feelings of isolation, loneliness and judgement as well as reduce stress and anxiety.
