About the position
There are multiple full-time positions, requiring weekends and evening shifts, at multiple locations with the Pima County Public Library.

Are you looking for the opportunity to work on exciting projects and contribute to a mission-driven agency? The Pima County Public Library is pleased to welcome applicants for the Librarian I position. Team members are largely cross-trained and ready to work in any part of the library when the need arises. The library is open and welcoming to all members of our community, including individuals who may be encountering hardships or challenges that affect their behavior and interactions. The Librarian I is someone with the ability to work respectfully and capably with people from all backgrounds and age groups. You may encounter situations that require de-escalation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and a flexible attitude are key in providing customer service. Your ability to exercise quick and mature judgment in dealing with potentially disruptive, physically dangerous or abusive customers and emergencies is crucial.
In order to be successful in this role, the Librarian I must:
Be able to demonstrate a commitment to serving underserved and multicultural communities in Pima County; Provide outstanding customer and informational service to a diverse spectrum of customers of all ages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic status; Have a willingness to be adaptable and responsive in a rapidly changing work environment (e.g., back-up story time librarian, work schedule adjustments). Be technologically adept (especially Microsoft Office, digital downloads, PC troubleshooting skills); use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing. Perform professional level operational and supervisory work relating to the provision of library services to children and adults.
The key work functions of this position must be performed on-site. Telecommuting is not available. The work location assignment is based on the needs of the library system. Working evening and weekend shifts, as assigned, are required. Hours are assigned to best meet the needs of our community.
