Bears Sighted in Lower Altadena Foothills
Two calls came in to the Altadena Sheriff's Station to report a bear sighting Wednesday.
Bears were spotted in an Altadena neighborhood Wednesday, according to reports made to the Altadena Sheriff’s Station.
At about 9:41 a.m. Wednesday, a caller reported sighting a bear in the 1800 block of Pepper. Around the same time, another person called to report seeing one bear and two bear cubs in the area.
When Altadena Sheriff’s Station deputies went to the area of the sightings, “the bears were not to be found,” Altadena Watch Deputy Marc Mrakich told Patch.

The Sheriff's Station notified the California Department of Fish and Game.
Mrackich noted that this bear sighting occurred a little lower in the foothills than usual but that can be expected when bears have a shortage of food and water due to dry conditions.
