SigAlert: Brush Fire Burns Near 210 Freeway
The fire broke out just before noon Sunday, causing traffic delays and triggering an aggressive effort to keep the fire from spreading.
ALTADENA, CA — A brush fire broke out Sunday afternoon in the Lake View Terrace area near the Foothill (I-210) Freeway and the Angeles National Forest.
Los Angeles firefighters were called to the scene a few minutes before noon to help county and national forest service crews battle a quarter-acre blaze, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. Air drops were also called in to help snuff out the flames. By 12:30, firefighters had stopped the forward progress of the blaze.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the 210 Freeway expected to last until at least 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Commuters are advised to avoid the area as the number four lane will be blocked to accommodate firefighting efforts.
