Developmentally Disabled Altadena Man Missing
Detectives and family members of Joseph Barela, a man with the mental capacity of a child, are asking for help finding him.
ALTADENA, CA — A 41-year-old Altadena man who has the mental capacity of a six-year- old child has gone missing, and sheriff's detectives are asking the public's help in bringing him home safely.
Joseph Barela was last seen at 9 p.m. Monday at his home in the 1400 block of North Oxford Avenue in Altadena, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
He is Hispanic, 6 feet 1, 150 pounds, with brown short hair and a receding hairline, brown eyes and a scruffy beard. According to police, he was wearing a lavender shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes.
