Fall Into Stunning Skin

Fall Beauty

Fall into stunning skin

Autumn is the season of progression. The color of the trees, the weather, our wardrobe, our diets, and our hair and makeup routines all segue into a warm scene of relaxation. We need this time to prep our skin from one extremity to another. This is the time to fall in love with your skin. Habitually we always wait until winter to treat our skin with a more sophisticated beauty regiment. We often think that because it’s cooler outside that the sun doesn’t affect our skin as much as it would during the warmer months. WRONG! Sure, our leisure outdoor activities may slow down a bit more but have you ever seen the sun slow down? Have you ever noticed the pollution in our environment seize? No. Our skin is directly affected by the ozone layer. Even if you were lucky enough to have been born with perfect genetics that everyone envies, your skin is effected by the ozone. But why is fall the optimal time for sophisticated beauty treatments? Because your skin is already transitioning to repair itself from summer mode to winter. So why not give it a bit more TLC? Here are some brilliant non- evasive treatments that will give you a graceful fall into winter.

Jessner Peel

This peel will assist your skin in its natural exfoliation process by breaking up and lifting dead skin cells, breaking up hyperpigmentation and evening out the complexion. It removes and heals damaged skin and helps to generate newer cells. I’m really keen on this peel because It also noticeably smooths out fine lines and wrinkles, reduces acne scaring and rejuvenates skin by restoring a healthy appearance.

O2 Clear facial (control corrective)

The thing about oxygen is that bacteria on the skin cannot survive in it.
This brightening decongesting facial kills bacteria in the pores, while simultaneously digesting dead skin cells at the surface of the skin. The o2 clear facial also breaks down blackheads assisting in easy and comfortable extractions.

Extractions

This is a treatment that often intimidates facial guests. Completely understandable when you don’t know exactly why it’s good for you and when you’ve been told that extractions hurt! Every facial does not feel the same for everyone, and should not feel the same. It’s healthy to get extractions because the debris in the pore is safely being removed making it less possible for your pores to become clogged and infected.

Pumpkin Peel facial

Pumpkin spice and everything nice. This warming. Brightening, skin smoothing facial treatment is an anti-inflammatory hydrating facial great for anyone who doesn’t have pumpkin allergies. This delicious facial lightens pigmentation, smooth’s fine lines and wrinkles and delivers a nice boost of vitamin A to help increase cellular turnover. And while you are in the treatment room this peel gives you a nice warm aroma which always puts me in the mood for an after spa pumpkin spice latte.

Spa facial

Customarily this is a soothing facial that can be tailored aromatically and include any treatment add-on’s. Around this time of year, it is common to turn a spa facial into a peppermint facial. Peppermint facials are calming and soothing and will aid in relief from acne discomfort and any type of inflammation of the skin. Peppermint also relaxes the mind and muscles increasing your sensation for a wonderful facial massage.

If you crave enviable skin, follow these top ten

1. Hydration delivers so many benefits for the body and skin. It aids in circulation keeping healthy blood flow and oxygen for a healthy glowing complexion. Staying hydrated also helps your skin to get rid of toxins that cause dulling of the skin, acne, poor circulation and pigmentation. Hydration gives your skin more elasticity which helps to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay. Hydration also helps the skin absorb the benefits of any skincare.

2. Balanced diet and nutrition Is just as important as staying hydrated. Because what you eat is carried through your bloodstream and has a direct effect on the skin I know its cliché to say you are what you eat, but it has been clinically proven time and time again. For our skin to function at its best we need vitamins so here are a few essentials:

  • Vitamin A aids in the skins complexion we can get this from sources like carrots, sweet potatoes, kale, eggs and broccoli.
  • Vitamin B helps to prevent acne breakouts, helps with moisture retention, is an anti- inflammatory and boosts the delivery of oxygen to our skin. We can find vitamin b in various foods like meats, leafy greens, nuts, quinoa, and in fruits like oranges, watermelon, and prunes. You’ll see prunes listed at least one more time because of all the amazing benefits they offer. Here’s to prunes keeping us young!
  • Vitamin C helps to brighten the skin and even the complexion while fighting UV rays. We can get vitamin C from foods like oranges, kale, kiwi and guava.
  • Vitamin E is a great antioxidant, it also protects us from the free radicals of the ozone, fights fine lines and wrinkles, and aids in cellular turnover. Vitamin E can be found in foods like almonds, avocado, olive oil, spinach, sweet potatoes and sunflower seeds.
  • Vitamin K helps the skin to coagulate blood, heal wounds, bruises, scaring and discoloration. Vitamin K can be found in foods like dark leafy greens, prunes, asparagus, scallions and Brussel sprouts.

3.Exercise! Why even wait until the new year?! Every day marks a new year for someone or something. So, when the fiscal new year comes through just change up your routine! You’ll need to anyways after all the holiday feasts. Exercising helps to boost your metabolism which helps bust cellular turn over. Exercise makes you sweat! And when you sweat you are purging impurities from your pores that are stored by your fat cells and blood. Exercise increases blood flow and oxygen giving your skin a healthy glow.

4. Rest is so important for health and beauty. It keeps dark circles under the eyes at bay. Your body produces more collagen when you sleep, and collagen helps to reduce wrinkles! Keeps your complexion bright and healthy. Also, for a boosted beauty rest, drink a glass of water before bed and use a serum and exfoliating night cream like “Freeze Frame” Nighttime Resurfacer Moisturizer by RUTZ skincare.

5.Maintain a healthy and active skincare routine. Make sure that you are using performance products for your specific type of skin. A skincare consultation may help you find exactly what you need. Keep in mind that as the seasons change, so does your skin. If you are already practicing a great regiment at home, make sure you evaluate the products you are using, make sure the expiration date is still good, take note on how it still makes your skin feel, and if it’s doing what it’s supposed to do for your skin. Depending on the changes in your skin, lifestyle or weather, you may need more, or less hydration, more, or less exfoliation or a brand-new performance product to target whatever it is that you feel you need to work on.

6.Exfoliation is the key to a smooth and healthy texture to your skin! There are so many ways to exfoliate. Mechanically using scrubs and or an exfoliating tool, chemically using a cleanser, or moisturizer with salicylic, glycolic, lactic acids, Retin A, or enzymes. We need exfoliation because it removes the dead skin cells that make your skin look sallow or dull. Exfoliation benefits those with acne breakouts by removing debris that clogs the pores. Dry skin is benefited from exfoliation because by removing the dead flakey skin cells, the skin will become more receptive to hydration.

7.Relieve stress! Stress is the number one cause of inflammation. It triggers acne, hives, breakouts, eczema, and leaves your face flushed and red, or dull and pale. Stress is just never good for anyone. People lose hair, lose sleep, lose patience, and lose time because of it. So please, anytime you feel stressed just take the time relax. Try some aromatherapy, a DIY calming facial mask, tea, a nap, a jog. Whatever it takes because living stress free is the key to your overall health.

8.Protect yourself from the sun! Sun damage causes skin cancer, hyperpigmentation, lines and wrinkles, dehydration and slows your collagen production.

9.Visit an esthetician. An esthetician is an educated licensed skincare professional. They exist to guide you to healthy skin, give you advice and recommendations and maintain your skin health. A monthly maintenance visit to a skin care spa is recommended for everyone, even if it’s just an assessment, or to get in some beauty essentials for your daily routine.

10.Taking us back to number 7! I know it sounds corny but, Smile more and frown less. Frowns create wrinkles and sagging. Also, you are likely frowning because you are experiencing a stressor. When we smile, we lift our muscles that cause sagging and we relax our 11’s/frown lines between our brows, AKA glabella to the professionals. But if all else fails and you do not know how to smile, or refuse to smile there is always the RBF. Resting B*tch Face was mastered and made popular by beauty and fashion icon Victoria Beckham. RBF is your safe card. It’s not frowning, not smiling, It’s not a regular face! It’s a face that says “I’m here to get sh*t done”.

Merle Norman’s Moisture Rich Facial Treatment 3oz (locate Merle Norman Studio for price)
Merlenorman.com
Soothing and hydrating, you’ll love how it feels and smells. I usually apply this mid-flight, because that’s when I notice that I’m as dehydrated as the crypt keeper⚰️. I sanitize my hands, apply the mask, and after ten minutes I tissue it off. But if you don’t want to be seen with it on, of course you can just wait until you arrive at your destination, I understand completely. Just keep in mind that if you are being judged on your in-flight facial, it’s likely by someone who really does look like the crypt keeper at that point.

I know I said foundation was the las step of skincare, which is true especially considering that almost all foundations today have an SPF and other beneficial ingredients. But, this makeup setting spray with SPF 30 is AMAZING! I use it even when I’m not wearing a foundation, like when I go hiking or doing any kind of out-door sporting. You’ll love this staple because it smells naturally amazing and is super functional.
