Millard Campground Closed At Least Through Thursday As Bear Hunt Continues
The victim was in a tent when attacked over the weekend at that Altadena-area park, authorities said.

ALTADENA, CA --- The Millard Campground near Altadena will remain closed until at least Thursday, while authorities continue their efforts to find a bear who injured a camper over the weekend.
At that time, authorities will assess whether to keep the campground closed, Andrew Hughan of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said late this morning.
The bear encounter occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday when the animal pushed in a tent in the campground.

"The tent came down on a male adult, and the bear appeared to be attempting to open the tent," sheriff's officials said.
The man, whose name was not released, needed about 18 sutures to close a wound on his forehead.

Two other campers saw an approximately 120-pound bear running away from the area.
Rangers detained a bear on Saturday who was found in a tree about a half- mile from the camp, but forensic testing determined that the animal was not involved in the attack, so the bear was released back to the wild.
