See Arroyo Food Co-Op Location at Open House April 25

Check out the recently leased property where the Arroyo Food Co-op Market will be opening and find out how to join and participate in the member run and owned market.

After years of planning and fundraising, the Arroyo Food Co-op recently leased the former George’s Market space in Pasadena and now you can have a look.

The public is invited to an open house at the new co-op location (494 N. Wilson Ave.) April 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Attendees can also learn how to join and participate in the co-op’s loan campaign.

The Arroyo Food Co-op will provide organic, sustainable, and locally sourced products along with humanely raised meats, fair trade items and non-GMO produce. Features such as a deli, coffee bar, and community space are also being considered.

Loans from existing members will provide the bulk of the approximately $70,000 needed to refurbish and renovate the leased site and $251,000 for operational expenses—mostly inventory—but extra members and donors will be needed.

“With the community’s continued support, we’ll clear these remaining milestones, establish a significant resource for healthy food, and provide yet one more example of how well the cooperative business model works for a local economy,” said Patrick Reagan, Co-op CFO and founder, in a statement earlier this month.
