See Pasadena Police Aircrafts Saturday at Altadena Heliport

SWAT, K9 and motorcycle displays and demonstrations will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Benedict Heliport Open House Saturday.

Local residents have likely seen or heard Pasadena Police helicopters buzzing overhead at all hours, but Saturday the public has the chance to see them up close.

The Pasadena Police Department’s Air Operation Section is hosting their annual Benedict Heliport Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Altadena and attendees will get to see some of the police department’s vehicles in action.

To showcase the Police Department’s special operations capabilities, SWAT, K9 and motorcycle displays and demonstrations will begin at 11:30 a.m. Personnel from Employment Services, Forensics, Traffic, and Community Services will be on hand to answer questions and meet the public.

“We are excited to open our doors and increase the public’s awareness and education about airborne law enforcement,” said Police Chief Phillip L. Sanchez in a statement. “The Section has a proud history of crime fighting and providing public safety services. We want the public to know what we do and why Air Support and the Special Operations community are so critical to our mission in today’s world.”

Food and drinks will be provided. Free parking is available along the street and in the heliport parking lot. Overflow parking located in the lot at the northwest corner of Arroyo Blvd and Weimar Street.

The heliport is located at 2175 Yucca Lane, Altadena (Located just off the 210 Freeway at the Arroyo/Windsor Exit).
