Tairen Owens: Muir Can Score 50+ Points a Game

Muir senior RB discusses upcoming season and commitment to UW.

Tairen Owens expects big things from himself and the Muir offense this year.

Before practice Tuesday afternoon, Altadena Patch got a chance to sit down with Owens for a couple of minutes to discuss the upcoming season and Owens' expectations.

In Owens and wideout Kevon Seymour, Muir boasts two of the top playmakers in the area and two players that are capable of taking it to the house whenever they touch the ball. Owens racked up 822 yards and 10 touchdowns last year (rushing at a staggering 7.68 yards per carry), but he's set his sights higher for 2011.

Owens said his goal is to rush for at least 1,000 yards and 20 TDs. As for the rest of the offense, Owens believes Muir can put up 50 points per game. Muir eclipsed 50 points just two times last year (against Hoover and rival Pasadena).
