Teen Killed In Altadena Drive-By Shooting; Killer At Large

An 18-year-old man was killed, and a boy was wounded in the shooting.

ALTADENA, CA — A young man was killed in a drive-by shooting in Altadena Monday afternoon, and a second person was wounded.

An 18-year-old victim died at a hospital. Authorities withheld his identity, pending notification of his family. The shooting happened at about 4:40 p.m. Monday in the 2100 Block of Santa Anita Avenue, according to investigators with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. A second victim, a boy, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.

"The suspect ... was seen shooting at the victims from inside a vehicle," a sheriff's statement said. "The vehicle description is unknown, and he was last seen driving southbound on Santa Anita Avenue."

No suspect description was available. Investigators were unsure of a motive for the crime.
