This Weekend in Altadena: Local Schools to Honor Daniel Pearl in Interfaith Ceremony

1. Weizmann Day School, New Horizon School, and St. Mark’s School will host the 8th annual interfaith Daniel Pearl Harmony for Humanity Concert Friday at 11 a.m. at Weizmann Day School, 1434 N. Altadena Dr. The program brings together children of Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths singing songs of peace and understanding.

2. The Altadena Heritage will dedicate the Equestrian Block in honor of Altadena’s equestrian community 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Altadena Stables, 3064 Ridgeview Dr. There will be horse demonstrations, presentations and food.

3. Altadena’s CERT will hold a Great California Shake Out the morning of Saturday Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. across Altadena and unincorporated Pasadena. Altadena CERT encourages neighborhoods to host their own mini-earthquake drills. Anyone interested in assisting Altadena CERT in its drill by acting as victims or “concerned pubic” can email operations@altadenacert.org .

4. The Altadena Library’s Fun Friday Flick is The Croods. All screenings are free and start at 3:30 p.m.

5. Odyssey Charter School will host a Fall Marketplace, Saturday, Oct. 19 at 725 W, Altadena Dr. The free event will include vendors selling jewelry, soaps, and other handmade goods. Click here for more details.
