Update: One Released, One Charged, in Stripmall Stabbing Death
A San Gabriel man will be arraigned Friday in the fatal stabbing of a Pomona man.

Thursday 5:22 p.m. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported that Jose Antonio Cruz Ramirez was released from custody due to lack of evidence to charge him in the stabbing death of Anthony Berry, 18, of Pomona.
The stabbing took place Tuesday night behind the strip mall on the 1300 block of Golden West Ave.
The second suspect in the stabbing, Juan Lorenzo, 31, remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles County Superior Courthouse in Pasadena on Friday for arraignment.

He is being held without bail on an immigration hold.
Wednesday 10 p.m. The Coroner's Office released the identity of the stabbing victim. Anthony Berry of Pomona died of his wounds at Huntington Hospital.

Wednesday 1 p.m. Investigators arrested Juan Lorenzo, 31, and Jose Antonio Cruz Ramirez, 26, both of San Gabriel, on suspicion of stabbing an unidentified 18-year-old to death Tuesday.
Ramirez is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, while Lorenzo is being held without bail due to an immigration hold. They are scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles County Superior Courthouse in Pasadena on Friday for arraignment.
Arcadia police said both suspects worked at the Money Pot Restaurant at 1236 S. Golden West Ave., where detectives found the knife believed to be used in the fatal stabbing.
The stabbing reportedly took place behind the strip mall at 1300 South Golden West Avenue following an altercation between the suspects and the victim. It remains unclear what the altercation was over.
Authorities will release the identity of the victim pending notification of kin.
Update: Two men have been detained in the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old behind the strip mall at 1300 S. Golden West Ave. on Tuesday night, after the pair first got into a confrontation with the victim, according to information from the APD.
An Arcadia Police Department release said the victim, who remains unidentified, was waiting behind the businesses to give someone a ride home when two employees from one of the establishments emerged and confronted the victim.
What started as a verbal confrontation apparently turned physical, and the 18-year-old was stabbed in the torso by an unknown object and eventually died after being taken to a local hospital, the release added. So far, the two men have been detained as persons of interest.

At about 9:30 pm on Tuesday evening, 12/20/11, Arcadia Police received a call regarding an assault in the strip mall at 1300 S. Golden West. When officers arrived they found an 18 year old male Hispanic victim suffering from a stab wound to the torso. The victim was immediately treated by the Arcadia Fire Department Paramedics who transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim later died as a result of his injuries. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.
Initial investigation indicates that the victim was waiting to the rear of the businesses to give an acquaintance a ride home from work. Two employees of one of the businesses became involved in a verbal altercation with the victim. At some point during the altercation, the victim was stabbed in the torso by an unknown object.
The two employees involved in the altercation were located and being detained as persons of interest.
The homicide is currently under investigation by the Arcadia PD Detective Bureau.
