Sunday, October 27

At 7:38 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 300 block of Campus Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from an altered mental status, post seizure activity. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including spinal immobilization, oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, October 28

At 11:58 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a call for service in the 300 block of Winnie Way. Engine 105 arrived on scene to find electrical wires down with a fire on the transmission pole. Engine 105 isolated the scene and awaited the arrival of the Southern California Edison Company (SCE). While on scene, firefighters witnessed another transformer explode down the block, causing the wires to fall to the ground, and starting a small vegetation fire. Engine 106 responded to and extinguished the fire. Upon SCE arrival, the power was shut off to the area to allow for repairs.

Tuesday, October 29

At 6:43 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105, along with units from Monrovia Fire Department, responded to a reported house fire in the 1800 block of South Eight Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a single story residence filled with smoke and a small fire in the rear of the structure. Fire crews advanced hose lines, made forcible entry, ventilated the structure, and conducted an extensive search of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished and it was determined no one was home at the time of the incident. An on duty investigator determined the cause of the fire to be accidental and the homeowner was notified. Fire crews overhauled the fire area and secured the structure.

Thursday, October 31

At 8:36 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 30 year old male lying unconscious on the roadway after being hit by a taxi. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including intravenous access, 12 lead electrocardiogram, full spinal immobilization, and assisted respirations. The patient was transported under trauma center criteria to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

Friday, November 1

At 4:51 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of West Foothill Boulevard and Rodeo Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found two patients suffering from mild to moderate injuries. Both patients received advanced life support at the scene; including full spinal immobilization, oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and wound care. The patients were transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
