ARCADIA, CA — This week in Arcadia, the fire department responded to numerous calls in the city. The vast majority of the 120 incidents were for rescue and emergency medical service, followed by multiple false alarm calls, calls for special assistance, and good intent. Two fires were reported during the week.

On Monday, Aug. 19, at 6:15 p.m. Battalion 105 and Truck 105 responded to a traffic collision on eastbound 210 freeway at Michillinda Avenue. There, a large truck collided with a smaller passenger vehicle. Three people were trapped inside.

"Firefighters forcibly opened the doors and freed the trapped occupants," officials reported. "Four patients with mild to moderate injuries were taken by ambulance to the Huntington Memorial Hospital." Arcadia fire personnel assisted Pasadena Rescue in this case.

On Friday, Aug. 23, Arcadia Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. There, they discovered a golf cart was ablaze, and a facility staff member was attempting to douse the flames with a fire extinguisher.

"Firefighters put out hot spots and used a hose line and fan to clear the office area of smoke," they said. "The cause of the fire was overcharged batteries in the golf cart."
