ARCADIA, CA — Arcadia High School's badminton team became champions on Saturday after winning their first ever CIF title.

The team prevailed against reigning champs Diamond Bar High School 13 - 8 to capture the CIF Championship in the Open Division. Arcadia High previously lost to Diamond Bar in two CIF title matches, according to a statement from the Arcadia Unified School District.

Arcadia’s team was created only six years ago and badminton is the only high school sport, the district said. That means boys and girls play on at the same time against one other in mixed doubles matches.
