Arcadia Man Killed on Freeway Identified

Richard Torres was crossing the freeway in an easterly direction just after 11 p.m. when he was struck and killed.

INDUSTRY, CA - The coroner's office Friday identified the 42-year-old Arcadia man who was fatally struck by a car as he tried to cross the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Industry as Richard Torres.

Torres died at the scene of the crash Thursday night on the northbound side of the freeway south of Peck Road, authorities said.

Torres was crossing the freeway in an easterly direction just after 11 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound 2010 Honda Accord, according to the California Highway Patrol.

County firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, a 47-year-old Upland man, was not injured but was taken to a hospital for observation, according to the CHP.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call the CHP's Santa Fe Springs office at (562) 868-0503.
