Arcadia Police Beat: Bike Theft, Porch Pirates Swipe Packages
In Arcadia, after Thanksgiving, police were busy keeping peace amid petty theft, drunk and disorderly calls and a pilfered power washer.

ARCADIA, CA — Here is how your local police work to serve and protect in your neck of the woods. From Sunday, Nov. 25 to Saturday, Dec. 1 the Arcadia police responded to 868 calls for service. Out of those, 139 required formal investigations.
Here are the most major incidents handled by the Department during that period.
Sunday, November 25:- Shortly before 2:06 a.m., an officer responded to the 11700 block of Clark Street regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect broke the passenger window of the vehicle and stole prescription medication, cologne, amps and charging cords. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
- At approximately 10:21 a.m., an officer responded to Holy Angels Church, 370 Campus Drive, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed an estranged brother stole his deceased mother’s ashes and urn during her funeral service. The 65-year-old male from Cabazon is outstanding at the time of this report.
Monday, November 26:

- Just after 1:23 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Los Altos Avenue regarding a grand theft report. Sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on November 26th, an unidentified suspect stole the victim’s package from their front porch containing designer earphones. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
- At approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to Vons, 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. Loss prevention employees witnessed the suspect, a 70-year-old male from Temple City, load his cart with $158.00 worth of liquor and groceries before he exited the store, failing to make payment. He was cited in the field due to health issues.
Tuesday, November 27:
- Around 12:33 a.m., officers conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and Huntington Drive for running a red light. A short pursuit ensued and additional Arcadia PD officers offered assistance. The vehicle pulled over and upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.137%. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
- Just before 10:03 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of East Camino Real Avenue regarding a burglary report. The resident witnessed a male suspect in her guest house and backyard. After yelling at the suspect to leave, he fled in a newer black sedan. The suspect is described as a black male, tall and thin, wearing a light grey hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is ongoing.
- At about 5:59 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a petty theft report. A loss prevention specialist witnessed the suspect conceal $173.00 worth of merchandise in his shopping bags before exiting the store, failing to make payment. The 18-year-old male from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
- Shortly after 6:23 p.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of East Live Oak Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. The victim discovered an unknown suspect had smashed one of the windows and stolen her wallet and credit cards sometime between 6 p.m. and 6:23 p.m. A short time later, Pasadena Police Department identified the suspect from the stolen property and arrested the 23-year-old male from South El Monte.
- Before 9:57 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Camino Real Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. The suspect, an adult male who resides in the area, was seen walking onto a neighbor’s property. During a residence check, officers discovered the rear door had been forced open and there was evidence that someone had been living in the home without the owner’s permission. The suspect was identified as a 62-year-old male neighbor from Arcadia. The suspect is outstanding at the time as of this report.
- Around 10:58 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Valencia Way regarding a theft report. Surveillance footage captured a male suspect steal the victim’s package from their porch. Officers conducted an area check and located the suspect’s 2018 red SUV and located the suspect. Upon contacting the suspect and accomplice, the officers discovered they were in possession of the victim’s stolen package, property, and drugs. A 26-year-old female from Sylmar and a 30-year-old male from El Monte were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The male suspect was also charged with providing false information to an officer in an attempt to conceal his identity and for an outstanding felony warrant.
Friday, November 30:

- At about 11:38 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Congregational Church, 2607 South Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a burglary report. The reporting party discovered an unknown suspect stole a power washer from a locked garage sometime between November 17th and November 30th. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
- Just before 4:21 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) pried open a rear door and stole a safe from the master bedroom. The loss is unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, December 1:
- Shortly after 10:51 a.m., officers responded to the area of 129 South First Avenue regarding two subjects drinking an alcoholic beverage in front of the location. Upon contacting the subjects, the 30-year-old male became combative, resisted arrest, and assaulted one of the officers by spitting on him. During a search of the arrestee, officers discovered he was in possession of a controlled substance and a smoking pipe. A records check revealed the other suspect, a 45-year-old male from Victorville, had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Both were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
- At approximately 12:29 p.m., officers responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding the activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy bicycles with tracking devices to combat the increase in bike thefts throughout the city. An investigation revealed a 30- year-old male from Pasadena was in possession of the stolen bicycle, the GPS tracker, a second stolen bicycle, and was in possession of burglary tools, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and forged currency. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
