Arcadia Weekly Police Blotter: Car Burglary, DUI, Assault, More
The Arcadia Police blotter for the week of May 18-25 includes a domestic battery case resulting from the last 'Game of Thrones' episode.
ARCADIA, CA -- For the period of Sunday, May 19 through Saturday, May 25, the Arcadia Police Department responded to 988 calls for service, of which 110 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, May 19:
- Shortly before 7:23 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1330 block of Oak Meadow Road regarding a stolen vehicle. Sometime during the previous evening, an unknown suspect(s) entered two unlocked vehicles, stole a cellphone and tablet, and then stole a third vehicle with the ignition key left inside. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
- At approximately 10:36 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of Alster Avenue regarding a battery report. A verbal altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend over the finale of "Game of Thrones" escalated when the boyfriend pushed and slapped his girlfriend. The 61-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

- Just after 5:46 a.m., an officer responded to First Avenue Middle School, 301 South First Avenue, regarding a theft report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect entered the school by unknown means, cut off the lock to a vending machine, and stole approximately $200 in change. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
- At approximately 8:32 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Oakglen Avenue regarding a package theft report. Surveillance footage revealed a female exited a dark colored Volkswagen and stole the victim’s package. The officer obtained a license plate from the vehicle and discovered the vehicle is registered to a male out of Duarte. The investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday, May 21:
- Around 12:55 a.m., an officer responded to a parking lot in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect smashed one of the windows and fled with medical simulators miscellaneous hand tools, and a pair of designer sunglasses. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
- Just before 3:36 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a dog bite. While waiting in line to make a purchase, the victim was bit by a leashed Maltipoo. Arcadia Fire responded and provided treatment for the small laceration. The case was forwarded to Animal Control.

- At about 8:15 p.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. The victim discovered her wallet had been stolen from her secured locker sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on May 22nd. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
- Shortly after 9:17 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Don Alvarado Street regarding a burglary in progress. The victim received notification from his surveillance system of two masked suspects in his backyard. Officers arrived and witnessed the suspect vehicle, a black Honda Civic, attempting to flee the scene. The Pasadena airship responded and witnessed the masked suspects running through the neighborhood. The suspects were ultimately located in the backyard of a home in the 1000 block of Old Rand Road. The arrestees include a 24-year-old male from Palmdale with two outstanding misdemeanor warrants, a 20-year-old male from Moreno Valley with an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, and a 35-year-old male from Los Angeles. All three were transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. Surveillance footage has linked them to one other residential burglary within the City of Arcadia.
Thursday, May 23:
- Before 7:42 p.m., an officer responded to the 2100 block of South Second Avenue regarding a vehicle that had struck a sign. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her breath. A series of tests confirmed the 30-year-old female from Azusa was driving with a blood alcohol content of .16%. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
- Around 11:01 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Haven Avenue regarding a fraud report. The victim received notifications from her bank regarding two possible fraudulent transactions on her credit card resulting in a total loss of $9,000.00. The victim does not know how the suspect obtained her personal information or the identity of the suspect. She was in possession of her credit cards during the time of the crime.
Friday, May 24:
- At about 1:40 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Orangewood Lane regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed the suspect(s) activated the alarm when they smashed a rear sliding glass door, ransacked the home, and fled with a safe containing a firearm. A neighbor’s surveillance system captured the suspect’s vehicle, a silver or white sedan. The investigation is ongoing.
- Just before 7:54 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Cortez Road regarding an attempted burglary report. The victim discovered one of her rear windows had been smashed, however, the suspect(s) did not gain entry into the home and the alarm had not been activated. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Saturday, May 25:
- Shortly after 6:07 a.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding an activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy bicycles with tracking devices to combat the increase in bike thefts throughout the city. The officer discovered a 44-year-old male transient was in possession of the stolen bicycle and GPS tracker. After resisting the officer’s commands, the suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed the suspect was on felony parole at the time of the crime.
- At approximately 9:40 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of California Street regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim returned home from a trip and discovered his Honda Insight was stolen from his driveway sometime between May 21st and May 25th. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
