
The CIF-Southern Section released its All-CIF baseball squads on Monday, and Arcadia senior pitcher shortstop KJ Edson was the lone Apache to earn a spot on the Division 2 roster.
Edson finished the 2011 regular season with a 10-1 record and a 0.56 ERA. Then in the playoffs, he pitched the Apaches to the . Edson’s role as the catalyst of Apaches’ historic run this year also earned him.
The secret to much of Edson’s success was his funky sidearmed delivery that caused his pitches to cut, dip and dive inside to right-handed hitters and leave just about every batter flummoxed at the dish whenever they faced Edson and the Apaches.

“It’s given me a huge advantage,” said Edson, who will pitch at University of La Verne University. “I wouldn’t have been this successful when I pitched the other way. It’s really helped out a lot. You don’t see many high schoolers throw the way I do. It gives you an advantage because I know colleges look for that.”
Apaches junior catcher Brendan Campbell was named to the Division 2 second team. Campbell hit. 375 with one home run, three doubles, 16 RBIs.

Arcadia also saw senior outside hitter Alejandro De Mendoza earn a spot on the All-CIF Division 3 boys volleyball squad. De Mendoza helped lead the Apaches to the second round of the Division 3 playoffs.
