Children's Hospital of LA is a local treasure and the spirit of the place gives us living breathing miracles like Avery.

Children’s Treasure
So about 12-years ago or so, a young lady (only 21) drove up from San Diego for an interview. We were looking for a new dental assistant and the choices, at the end of the interview day, were two.
The bad news: we chose the wrong candidate. The good news: candidate #2 is still here.

The following day, future Dental Assistant Extraordinaire Kolleen and now-Dental Assistant Extraordinaire Mrs. Palmer called, wanting to know why she didn’t get the job. 24-hours later (candidate #1 barely made it to lunch), we made the call letting Kolleen know the job was hers. And I’ve been grateful ever since that Kolleen said yes.
So it’s not surprising that for the last dozen years, giving and getting feedback has been no problem for Kolleen. Can’t tell ya how much I enjoy our 8-hour friendly ongoing debates.

If you’ve ever paid us a visit, I will hand over my Mickey Mouse watch and mint condition program from Super Bowl I if you didn’t receive an authentic heartfelt compliment from Kolleen (you might have received a hand-written note too.) If you Wikipedia the word “Thoughtful” you’ll find a picture of Kolleen.
While Kolleen is an All-world dental assistant, Aunt Kolleen is even more amazing. 7-years ago, Kolleen became aunt to her sister Therese’s twins…and from Day One, little Avery had to fight her way into the family. After numerous surgeries and excellent care from Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, Avery is the beautiful young lady you see in the picture with Aunt Kolleen.
On this Sunday, March 2, Therese, Avery, Kolleen and family will host their Eighth Annual Blood Drive at the family home from 10AM-2PM (Light snacks and a pizza lunch will be served). The blood donations will all be headed for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
I’ll be there; I hope you’ll be there too.
