Covfefe Wins $1 Million In Breeder's Cup Event
No fake news about it, a racehorse named for President Trump's famous typo tweet has won six of eight races.

ARCADIA, CA — In a racing season colored with tragedy, there was a bright spot at Santa Anita during the Breeder's Cup Sunday. A 2-year-old filly with the unlikely name of Covfefe (cov-fef-ee) won Sunday — her sixth win of eight races. She took home a $1 million purse in the 2019 Breeder's Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Santa Anita Park.
What's in a name? Covfefe stems from a late-night mistweet by President Donald Trump. The tweet, "despite the constant negative press covfefe..." leads the reader to imagine he intended to write "coverage." He continues to insist that the word Covfefe is an insider term. Either way, the word sparked millions of memes, and a winning racehorse got her name.
The filly Covfefe made her racing debut on Sept. 16, and there is nothing funny about the way she races. "She has serious talent," a Breeder's Cup spokesperson reported.

Covfefe made her move in the last turn and held a commanding lead for the final furlong.
According to Bloodhorse.com, Covfefe is owned by LNJ Foxwoods, was bred by Alexander-Groves Thoroughbreds out of Kentucky, and trained by Brad Cox. Jockey Joel Rosario had the honors of bringing her safely home. She has a long and lustrous lineage, according to theBreeder's Cup website.

"I thought there was no shot of her not running her race. I knew she was going to run her race," Cox told Bloodhorse.com after Covfefe's first win. "You just stay optimistic and know your horse is doing well, and the rest will take care of itself."
This race marked Rosario's 10th Breeder's Cup win, the racing website reported.
