Crosswalk Death Driver Takes Plea Deal
The driver of the Lexus that killed Arcadia High Student Alice Zhang pleaded guilty to a pair of misdemeanors, according to the Pasadena Star-News.
Bowen Du, the 19-year-old driver of the Lexus that , has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors as part of a plea deal, according to the Pasadena Star-News.
The misdemeanors are vehicular manslaughter with simple negligence and reckless driving causing injury, said attorney Evan P. Freed to the Star-News. Du now faces up to 18 months in prison instead of six years had he been convicted at trial, the Star-News reports.
Freed told the Star-News he expects Du to be placed on unsupervised probation, which means a possible jail sentence of 180 days, 40 days of community labor, attending a driver safety class and having to pay court-ordered restitution.
