BEAUMONT, CA — A Beaumont man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14 years of age, police announced. Sixty-year-old Miguel Lazo is accused of sexually assaulting one of his own young family members.

According to police, the arrest stems from a months-long investigation into the allegations that first arose when officers were called to a local hospital emergency room in early 2018 "to investigate a report that a female juvenile had been sexually assaulted by a family member," according to a police statement.

"It was determined that the alleged assault occurred in a family member’s residence in the City of Beaumont," police said.
