Sunday, August 18

At 3:30 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 300 block of West Norman Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find that a 32 year old male with a large laceration across his face. The injury was sustained when a tree trimmer in a tree severed a large branch, which hit the victim while he was standing on the ground. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures; including intravenous access, electrocardiogram and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation

Tuesday, August 20

At 10:36 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 300 block of East California Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find 51 year old male suffering from weakness and dizziness. The patient stated he had been feeling ill for several hours. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures; including intravenous access, 12 lead electrocardiogram, oxygen therapy and anti-nausea medication. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.

Wednesday, August 21

At 11:27 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist on the eastbound 210 Freeway at Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from chest pain with shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, August 22

At 1:57 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic accident in the 100 block of West Grand View Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find two patients, both suffering from neck pain following a traffic collision with a garbage truck and a tree.

Both patients self-extricated from the vehicle. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures; including full spinal immobilization and 12 lead electrocardiogram. Both patients were transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.

Friday, August 23

At 11:58 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of Live Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from severe abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

At 6:08 p.m., Engine 105 and OES Engine 343, with units from numerous Southern California agencies, responded to the Rim Fire Incident in Tuolumne County as part of Strike Teams 1205 and 1801. Arcadia units responded to a large scale forest fire that was estimated to have burned over 100,000 acres at the time of dispatch. The fire continues to threaten structures in the region and is encroaching upon Yosemite National Park. Both Strike Teams were deployed in accordance with the State of California’s Master Mutual Aid Plan and have been assigned to Structure Protection.

Saturday, August 24

At 7:09 p.m., Rescue Ambulance 105 and Monrovia Truck 101 responded to an emergency medical call in the 300 block of North Mountain Avenue in Monrovia. Fire crews arrived on scene to find one patient suffering from an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics performed advanced life support measures; including cardiac monitoring, oxygen saturation monitoring and providing IV fluids. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
