Fire Blotter: Three Seriously Injured in Vehicle Collision
Also, a rogue horse bucked two men, injuring them.

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 31 through April 6, 2013.
Dumpster Fire
At 9:46 a.m. on March 1, Engine 105 responded to reported rubbish fire in the 600 block of East Live Oak Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a dumpster on fire with bystanders attempting to extinguish the fire with buckets of water. A hose line was pulled from the engine and used to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
Medical Assist: Stroke
At 9:15 a.m. on April 1, Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1200 block of Rancho Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel treated a woman exhibiting symptoms of a stroke. She received advanced life support at the scene: oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Medical Assist: Head Injury
At 5:09 p.m. on April 2, Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical call in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire crews arrived on scene to find one man suffering from head pain stemming from an injury sustained the week prior. Paramedics assessed the patient and performed advanced life support interventions, including cardiac monitoring and establishing venous access. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

Medical Assist: Injured Hip
At 5:58 p.m. on April 3, Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1000 block of Leandra Lane. Upon arrival, fire personnel treated a woman suffering from hip pain due to a fall. The patient received advanced life support at the scene: oxygen therapy, intravenous access, drug therapy for pain management and immobilization of the hip. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist for further evaluation and treatment.
Three-Vehicle Collision
At 10:03 a.m. on April 4, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105 and Battalion 105 responded to a traffic collision with a report of an overturned vehicle in the intersection of Second Avenue and Camino Real Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a three-vehicle accident with four injured people. Additional equipment was requested, including Rescue Ambulance 106, Engine 105, Monrovia Squad 101 and two private ambulances from Cole Schaefer Ambulance. Two patients required advanced life support interventions and were transported in separate ambulances to the closest trauma center. The two remaining patients required basic life support interventions and were transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital.
Horse Bucks Two Men
At 7:32 a.m. on April 5, Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire crews arrived to find two injured people. The first was a 62-year-old man suffering from an altered mental status after being bucked from a horse. Paramedics provided advance life support measures on scene. He was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital Trauma Center for further evaluation. The second patient was a 34-year-old man suffering from rib pain after being kicked by the same horse. Paramedics provided basic life support measures on scene. He was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.
Three Seriously Injured in Vehicle Collision
At 5:06 p.m. on April 6, Truck 105 and San Marino Rescue Ambulance 91 were dispatched to a traffic collision at Baldwin Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle traffic collision with three patients. Additional resources were requested to the scene. Two people had injuries requiring advanced life support interventions and transport to a trauma center. The third patient required basic life support and was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital.
