Fire Report: Cyclist on Car Collision, Trash Truck Fire

Sunday, September 22

At 5:01 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a vehicle versus bicyclist at the intersection of Huntington Drive and Holly Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find that an 18 year old male cyclist had struck by a vehicle traveling 30 miles per hour. The patient was not wearing a helmet and bounced off the vehicle, leaving a large dent in the hood before being thrown 10 feet. The patient exhibited signs of head injury. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including intravenous access, 12 lead electrocardiogram, full spinal immobilization and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

At 8:50 a.m., Monrovia Engine 102 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 5600 block of South Peck Road. Fire crews arrived to find a 34 year old male who had fainted. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including intravenous access, 12 lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.

At 9:37 a.m., Engine 105 responded to a trash fire in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Engine 105 arrived on scene and found a fire in the storage area of a trash truck. The contents were emptied onto a parking area where the material was overhauled and extinguished. The property owner made arrangements to properly dispose of the burned material.

Wednesday, September 25

At 11:59 p.m., Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105 and Battalion 105 responded with Los Angeles County Fire Department to a reported apartment house fire in the 5400 block of South Santa Anita Avenue in the City of Temple City. Fire crews arrived to find fire in the attic of a two story apartment building. Arcadia personnel assisted with laddering the building, ventilating the structure, overhaul and salvage operations, and provided a safety officer at the scene. Damage was confined to three upstairs units, displacing a total of seven residents. No injuries were reported.

Thursday, September 26

At 9:22 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1100 Block of Oakwood Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from chest pain. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, 12 lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.

Friday, September 27

At 11:13 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire crews arrived to find that a 68 year old male had fainted, fallen to the ground and hit his head. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including intravenous access, 12 lead electrocardiogram, full spinal immobilization and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

Saturday, September 28

At 2:13 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from lower back pain after a fall. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy and spinal immobilization. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
