Police Blotter: Coach Allegedly Shoves Child Over Game Outcome

Also, a teen reportedly attacks his father and brother with a knife.

For the period of Sunday, March 17-23rd the Arcadia Police Department responded to 1,017 calls for service, 125 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

Coach Allegedly Shoves Child Over Baseball Game

At about 1 p.m. on March 17, an officer was dispatched to the 2000 block of Winthrop Avenue regarding a battery report. An upset coach allegedly pushed a child to the ground at Hugo Reid Park while running toward an umpire to confront the official about the outcome of a baseball game. Witnesses reported the suspect used violent force and the child's father desires prosecution. Further investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

Allegedly Drunk Men Stalled by Tire Damage

At 8:52 p.m. on March 17, an officer responded to the scene of a public disturbance in the area of East Longden Avenue and South Sixth Avenue. Two allegedly drunk men were standing on the side of the road next to their car, which had tire damage. One of the men was reportedly unconscious in the passenger seat. The 22- and 28-year-old men were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Driving With a Suspended License

Shortly after 2:40 p.m. on March 18, an officer pulled over a vehicle with broken taillights in the area of Fifth Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. The officer discovered the driver had a suspended license. The officer cited and released the 43-year-old woman.

Shoplifting

At approximately 8:20 p.m. on March 18, officers responded to Macy's at the Santa Anita Mall regarding a theft report. A 37-year-old woman had entered a fitting room, where she allegedly concealed several items of clothing inside her purse and underneath the clothing she was wearing. She exited the store without paying for the items. Officers arrested her and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Man Thwarts Vehicle Theft

At 1:13 a.m. on March 19, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 000 block of Alice Street regarding an attempted vehicle burglary that just occurred. The victim reportedly looked out his window and observed a stranger inside his vehicle. The victim stepped outside to confront him and came across two more men standing on the sidewalk near the vehicle. All three men allegedly entered a black Honda sedan and fled eastbound out of sight. An area check proved negative; however, one hand-print was located on the driver side window. Further investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

Teens Reportedly Steal From Macy's

At 5:53 p.m. on March 19, officers were dispatched to Macy's at the Santa Anita Mall regarding two suspects in custody for theft. The suspects allegedly concealed merchandise inside their purses and a shopping bag and exited the store without paying. The teens also allegedly stole from Hollister and Forever 21. The 17- and 18-year-old girls were transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

DUI Arrest

At 12:38 a.m. on March 20, an officer pulled a vehicle over in the 000 block of west Foothill Boulevard after reportedly observing the vehicle traveling on a flat tire for several hundred feet. The officer allegedly smelled alcohol on the 25-year-old driver's breath and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Residential Burglary

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on March 20, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of East Winnie Way regarding a residential burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry through the front door, ransacked a bedroom, and fled undetected with property including two laptops and passports. No evidence was located.

Vehicle Theft

Between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on March 21, a vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of 612 West Duarte Road while the victim was inside the location. No evidence was left behind and no one reported seeing or hearing anything suspicious.

Drug Arrest

At 10 p.m. on March 21, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a broken head light on Colorado Boulevard at Michillinda Avenue. The vehicle's 24-year-old passenger had a no bail warrant for her arrest and was allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic needle. Officers arrested her and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Traffic Stop Yield Drug Arrest

Around 3 a.m. on March 22, an officer was patrolling the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Pamela Road, and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for having no front license plate. The 38-year-old driver had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants for his arrest and was allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers arrested him and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Teen Allegedly Threatens Family With Knife

Shortly after 8 a.m. on March 22, an officer responded to the 000 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a battery investigation. A 17-year-old allegedly hit his father numerous times and fled, only to return to the house to threaten his father and brother with a knife. Officers arrested the teen and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Man Allegedly Cuts of Security Sensors With Wire Cutters

Shortly before 2 p.m. on March 23, officers were dispatched to Hollister at the Santa Anita Mall regarding a theft report. Witnesses reportedly observed a 38-year-old man removing security sensors from clothing with a pair of wire cutters. As the suspect attempted to exit the store, he allegedly pushed the loss prevention officer trying to apprehend him, but was later detained in the Promenade parking structure. A records check revealed the suspect was on probation for burglary and had one outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Officers  arrested him and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Narc Arrest

Shortly midnight on March 23, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration in the area of Lovell Avenue and Duarte Road. The 34-year-old driver had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was allegedly in possession of a narcotic controlled substance. Officers arrested her and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
