Suspect Abandons Car, Loot After Arcadia Pursuit
After a "bait-item" theft Arcadia police pursued a 2015 Grey Kia Optima 4-door sedan through the streets, & lost the suspect in Pasadena.
ARCADIA, CA — Arcadia cops are on the lookout after a Tuesday theft and car chase ended with stolen loot but no suspect in sight.
On April 23, 2019, just before 1:30 a.m., Arcadia police officers responded to the area of Huntington Drive and Michillinda Avenue regarding the activation of a department-owned bait item containing a GPS tracking device, according to Sgt. Brett Bourgeous of the Arcadia Police Department.
"Arcadia detectives regularly deploy bait items throughout the city to identify and arrest persons committing crimes," Bourgeous explained.

Following the GPS tracker, officers located a potential suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct an enforcement stop.
"The vehicle failed to yield to officers and a pursuit was initiated," he said. Police followed the vehicle to the area of Rosemead Boulevard and Del Mar Boulevard in Pasadena.

Officers located the suspect vehicle shortly thereafter, abandoned in the area of Del Mar Boulevard and Craig Avenue.
The suspect vehicle, which contained the stolen property, was recovered; however, the suspect(s) were not located. The suspect vehicle was identified as a 2015 Grey Kia Optima 4-door sedan.
"The driver of the suspect vehicle has yet to be identified," he said.
